This training is being organized through the WV Local Food Corridor Project - a project funded by a USDA Local Food Promotion Program grant, which is being administered by the Natural Capital Investment Fund (NCIF). Additional funding for this training was provided through the Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation - CAMC Value Chain.
The WV Local Food Corridor Project involves developing a prototype distribution route, and builds on peer learning to enhance capacity for local food distribution. A goal of the project is to leverage the resources and networks of partner organizations in Ohio, West Virginia, and Southwest Virginia.
This training will help prepare producers to acquire GAP certification needed to sell to key regional wholesale markets such as Appalachian Harvest food hub in Duffield, VA and CAMC Value Chain in Charleston, WV.

Funding for shared travel (carpools) and lodging (2 participants/room) is available ro WV participants upon request. A request for travel reimbursement must be made via email to Liberty Newberry Fetty (libertynewberry-fetty@vc2.org) explaining the need for support.
Travel support will be awarded based on need, up to 10 carpooled travel and shared rooms on a first come first served basis.
Completion of the WVDA basic GAP training required for a GAP audit cost-share is a recommended precursor to this training.
