IGTC participants from around the world are invited to join the November 2016 General Assembly in Geneva, where key decisions will be taken on membership, governance, operations and structure of the Coalition, including elections on its President, Vice President and Treasurer. The General Assembly will be preceded by a morning Strategy Session, where associations, councils and corporate stakeholders will be asked for strategic feedback on priority files.

2016 has seen unprecedented developments policies impacting the global trade of grains, oilseeds, pulses and other agri-bulks. During the Nov. 8 meeting IGTC will consider and update plans for action and information of critical importance, including :

  1. Cartagena Biosafety Protocol: Engaging in the COP-MOP meetings in Cancun from December 4-18
  2. Phytosanitary Risk Management: Development if the International Standard for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM) for the movement of grain by the IPPC
  3. Plant Breeding Innovation:  Regulatory coherence and predictable grain trade when seeds are produced many technologies including biotechnology (cisgenesis & intragenesis, synthetic genomics, zinc finger nuclease...)  
  4. E-Documentation: Informing decisions on innovation
  5. Enabling the Business of Agriculture:  Supporting the World Bank project
  6. Pesticide Residues:  Developing a global and trade facilitative approach.

    Reminder: proposals for new IGTC actions  should be submitted in writing to the Secretariat by 31 October, 2016.

The IGTC’s purpose is to convene significant expertise and representation to provide advice from a global perspective on the commercial requirements and economics of the world’s food, feed and processing industries.
