Enter Your Chili in the Great Bowls of Fire Chili Cookoff

Interested in entering Your Chili in the Great Bowls of Fire Chili Cookoff and winning $$$?

The Chili Cookoff is not just a Chamber event – it is open to the entire community!  Not only are you invited to attend and enjoy the festivities and good food, but we welcome you to participate as a Chili Cookoff entrant.

Do you have a chili recipe that friends and family rave over?  Then we need you to be one of our participants!

The Cookoff is open to local churches, community and social organizations, area businesses, restaurants, police and fire departments, really any individual or team that wants to try their “ladle-filled” hand at this fun and tasty competition.

What’s required to be an entrant in the Great Bowls of Fire Chili Cookoff?

Just make at least 4 gallons of chili for the folks attending to try a small sample.  This is not a sanctioned chili cookoff so your chili can be made off-site and brought to the event that day.  And there are no constraints on the type of chili that can be entered into the Cookoff – vegetarian, green, spicy, beans only, white, or the ever popular meat lover’s, are some of the options and types of chili we hope to taste at this event!

And of course, it wouldn’t be a Cookoff without some healthy (and spicy) competition.  A panel of judges will sample the various chilies to award First Place honors for 3 categories (Traditional, Non-Traditional and Vegetarian).  The First Place winners in each of these categories will not only enjoy bragging rights, but will also win $200.

Traditional chili is defined as typical “red” chili with beans and/or ground beef, spicy or mild.  Enter your chili in the non-traditional category if your ingredients include any variation on traditional, for example, white chili, chicken, use of game meat, fish, etc.  Vegetarian chili does not include any meat products.

Want a chance to win another $250 at the event?  Everyone who attends the event will have a chance to cast their vote for the Peoples Choice winner.  PLUS, we will continue the Spirit Award prize to honor the entrant with the snappiest decorations and theme for the day.

Competition fee per team:*

$25.00 if you supply your own tent

$75.00 if you need us to provide you with a tent

Deadline to register is NOW!  But we hope to hear from you before Sept 16.

* Competition fee allows for 2 attendees to enter (you and a helper.)  The admission cost for additional helpers at your booth is $10/person in advance or $15/person at the door.  Admission cost gains you admission to the event, opportunity to try ALL the chilis included in admission, plus hours of great musical entertainment with the band Hit Play.  Beer and non-alcoholic beverage purchases not included in admission ticket.

Register on-line TODAY.  Only 40 entrants will be accepted due to space.
