The Art of Thrums

August 14 Workshop 1-4pm

Wyoming and Colorado winters call for heavy duty knitwear. Prepare yourself for the windy walks to work ahead and learn how to thrum your knitted pieces! Thrums are bundles of roving that are knitted into any piece in need of a little extra warmth. You can add thrums to just about anything but they are most effective in sweet pair of slippers, a bulky pair of mittens or a trusty ear warming hat.

In this one session class you will be learning the technique on a hat pattern. Create this delightfully toasty hat in no time with the help of instructor Lynne Ruggles, a thrum master! The techniques you learn will be easily translated to any kind of knitted object that needs to be extra toasty.

Lynne will instruct you in how to bundle the roving for easy knitting and show you how to place thrums in your knitting for maximum warmth and practicality. This technique is a must have in your arsenal if you live in a cold climate!
