S413 and Waterproofing of Parking Structures

Presentation One:

S413 and Waterproofing of Parking Structures in New Construction – Best Practices
The presentation will cover the important sections of CSA S413 with respect to new construction for parking structures. Discussed will be how this code relates to durability and protection of parking structures and how this is incorporated into designs. It will include a discussion about areas of parking structures where waterproofing system design and selection are critical, followed by an overview of the different types of waterproofing systems on the market, the proper use of each of these systems, along with typical failure mechanisms and pros/cons for each system and their typical life spans. Finally there will be a summary on how S413 will help owners and operators in the long term.

Presentation Two:

S413 and the Repair and Waterproofing of Existing Parking Structures
The presentation will cover the important parts of CSA S413 with respect to existing parking structures and their repair and maintenance. Discussed will be what portions of S413 relate to existing structures and how this code will improve the durability and provide long term protection of parking structures.  Plus it will discuss the corrosion mechanisms at play and the different failure types typically seen in existing waterproofing systems. It will include a brief discussion about the different types of waterproofing systems available for use in existing structures and the critical aspects of design to blend new waterproofing technologies with older structures and waterproofing systems. It will conclude with best practices relating to waterproofing systems for parking garages and future maintenance and repairs that can be expected
