2016 ONLINE TRAINING: MANAGING LOCAL STEMH COMPETITIONS/PROGRAMS
Whether you've been managing a local STEM-H program/competition for years or are just starting out, this training is for YOU! Our training developers, Erin Garcia and Karen Kinsman have been successfully managing the Central NM Science & Engineering Research Challenge, Central NM Science Olympiad, and SW Junior Science & Humanities Symposium competitions along with other STEM-H related outreach programs for a number of years. Both Erin & Karen also work annually as part of the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair Core Operations Team.
This online training covers the basics of running a STEM-H program/ competition, handling protocols/paperwork, recruiting judges, fund & "friend" raising to support your efforts and provide student awards, working with your colleagues/administration/PTO to make sure you aren't the ONLY one putting the event together, set up logistics, the importance of planning ahead (…way ahead!), and how to think through your “Plan B’s” (aka…what to do when the unexpected happens!), etc.
You will receive a Certificate of Completion indicating professional development credit for the amount of time you spend on the online training. Certificates will be emailed upon verification of completion.
