Paco Vicuna Meet & Greet--Friday Aug 5 6-7:30pm

Join us at Cowgirl Yarn Friday August 5 6-7:30pm for a meet and greet with Jefferson Farms Natural Fibers. They are the owners and caretakers of the largest Paco Vicuna herd in the United States and will be bringing some of their delightfully fine fiber products with them.

We will spend the evening snacking, petting some of the finest fiber in the world and getting to know more about this local farm and their incredible animals.

Jane Levene, the founder of the farm, has a few words about her business and her animals:

"Paco-Vicunas are a more primitive alpaca, with characteristics much closer to true vicuna, than the modern alpaca.  The PVs have fleeces that maintain incredible fineness and density throughout their lifetime, but with a slightly shorter staple length.  Nationally there are approximately 750  registered paco-vicunas so with 2 farms and over 450 animals we are the largest herd of paco-vicunas in the United States.  We are very serious about our fiber production!"

The meet and greet is free, but we do ask that you register here so we can get plenty of snacks! If you can't make it this Friday, Jane will be at the store all day on Saturday (Aug 5) answering questions about her animals and knitting so bring down a project and join her!
