AMTA-KY Chapter 2016 Fall Meeting

Hands-on Learning

Give your practice an edge by learning new techniques that will set you apart.

At our fourth annual fall meeting we  offer education that can enhance your skills immediately. Registration includes lunch. There is no business meeting, no formality, just relaxed learning and earning (CE’s of course). This is your chance to get some hands-on education by terrific instructors and receive some much needed partner treatment at the same time.

The meeting will be held October 15, 2016.  The classes will be taught at the Kentucky Dam Village Conference Center in Gilbertsville, Kentucky.  The location is an easy drive from most parts of the state (OK so its a LONG drive but TRUST me, the classes will be great and the area is beautiful!) and is MUCH closer to our western Kentucky therapists (you're welcome!).

There are two terrific classes from which to choose:

"Cervical and Lumbar Analysis for the Massage Therapist"

"Pelvic Stabilization for the Massage Therapist."

By attending one of these classes you can earn 6 hours of hands-on continuing education for the low price of $125.00.

Part of every meeting should be community building and networking.  For this reason we are including box lunches from Kentucky Dam Village at no extra cost to you. All you have to do is choose your meal. Sit, visit, pick a brain or two, share ideas!

Join us for fun, food, and a great educational experience.  I can't wait to see you there!                                                 Val

Valerie Smothers, LMT                                                                                                                                      AMTA-KY President

Choose between two classes:

Cervical and Lumbar Analysis for the Massage Therapist

or

Pelvic Stabilization for the Massage Therapist

Course Descriptions:

Cervical and Lumbar Analysis for the Massage Therapist, Dr Eric Epstein- 6 CE hours In this 6 hour course, the therapist will review the functional anatomy of the cervical and lumbar spine. Associated muscular contributions to dysfunction will be presented along with hands-on break out sessions. A focus on cervical and pelvic crossed syndromes will allow the therapist to quickly identify imbalances that cause pain and degeneration. The class will finish with an introduction to nutritional support of musculoskeletal health

Materials Needed: Massage table and loose clothing

Eric C. Epstein, Ms.T., D.C., C.C.P. is a 1988 graduate of the Self Health School of Medical Massage. As a therapist, he realized the need to continue his education in an effort to serve a larger body of individuals, and graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1996. Dr. Epstein received post doctoral training in pediatrics and currently serves as staff doctor at Kentuckiana Children's Center in Louisville, KY. Dr. Epstein is the immediate past anatomy/physiology/pathology instructor at the Louisville School of Massage. He lectures nationally and covers such topics as early intervention in Autism Spectrum Disorder, functional anatomy and applied clinical nutrition

Pelvic Stabilization for the Massage Therapist, Joe Cinquina- 6 CE hours
Deep pelvic restrictions in fascia and soft tissue cause distortions and chronic pain throughout the body. Therefore, pelvic stabilization is recommended prior to addressing other soft tissue conditions. This workshop will explore myofascial release and balancing of the opposing muscle groups in the hip and lower back, with the goal of restoring full range of motion bilaterally.

Materials Needed: Massage table, linens, lubricant, participants should dress in gym shorts and tank tops or a sports bra to facilitate the hands-on sessions

Joe Cinquina, LMT is a faculty member at the Lexington Healing Arts Academy where he teaches Fundamentals, Career Development, and Thought Patterns For A Successful Career. He also assists in Kinesiology. Joe is certified in Integrated Manual Therapy and Orthopedic Massage by James Waslaski's Center For Pain Management and co-owns Soular Massage with his wife Cynthia.
