On Friday, October 14, please join the Connecticut Jump$tart Coalition and noted financial author and columnist Beth Kobliner for a Summit focusing on the money experiences of millennials and their implications for the  financial education of Connecticut youth.  The conference will be held at the Sheraton Hartford South Hotel in Rocky Hill from 8 AM to 3:30 PM.

When it comes to personal money management, millennials have faced more challenges than most of the generations before them.  They experienced the biggest economic recession since the Great Depression.  They are swimming in student debt, engaging in expensive credit card behaviors and raiding their retirement accounts—if, indeed, they have one.   On top of it all, most have come of age without the benefit of any formal financial education.

What are we – as educators, parents, policy makers, businesses and communities – learning from their experiences to help us better prepare the young people behind them for an even more complex economy and financial world?

The 2016 Connecticut Financial Literacy Summit: Empowering the Next Generation will explore this topic with a host of experts who have front-line insights into the research and resources, practices and policies that can turn the tide for the next generation.  It will be a day of practical information, new perspectives and lively discussions that will re-energize attendees’ efforts to create a financially-capable young America.

Who Should Attend

Educators, school superintendents, assistant superintendents, financial aid and guidance counselors, other school administrators and personnel; policy-makers; businesses; non-profits and for-profits that offer a financial literacy component; parents; community advocates for financial education.
