The Cannon Ball Celebration benefits the Trust's mission and supports our education and veteran remembrance programs.

Our Mission

Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum is the nation's only military memorial dedicated to honoring our service members from all branches of service, in all capacities (Active, Reserve, Guard) and all eras and conflicts since the Civil War through our War on Terrorism. Operated and maintained by a 501(c)(3) nonprofit trust, our historic memorial was designed by renowned architect Henry Hornbostel with a majestic auditorium and elegant ballroom. Our museum offers a unique look into American history through military artifacts and personal mementos reflecting the experiences of the women and men that served our country. Our educational outreach and veteran service programs promote the significance of the facility to the community as a living memorial, an educational asset, and cultural treasure. Conceived by the Allegheny County Posts of the Grand Army of the Republic, Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall opened its doors in October 1910. The year 2000 brought about a rebirth to this aged structure when its trustees took it to nonprofit status. Today, we continue to improve, enhance and create a sustainability program helping us carry our mission into the future.
