Successful transition to young adulthood is a high priority for members of the Gateway community. This annual transition event is a full day symposium on Friday, January 6, 2017. World-renowned theorists from the University of Kansas will discuss the latest research and applications in self-determination for individuals with learning disabilities. Symposium attendees will learn from a variety of speakers on topics aimed to help adolescents create a strong foundation for independence in adulthood.

Who should attend?
Students with AD/HD, autism and learning differences are often considered "too high functioning" for state funded resources, yet they still require support in order to become productive adults. Gateway Academy’s Transition Symposium will feature speakers with expertise in areas impacting transition to adulthood. Those who attend the Symposium will learn actionable steps to support growth of pivotal skills and competencies inherent in this growing population. This symposium is relevant to those for whom college, adult independent living and/or vocational careers are attainable with the proper structure and support.
Parents, Educators, High School Students, Young Adults, Mental Health Professionals, Physicians, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Support Service Specialists in College will all benefit from this unique educational program.

CEUs
All individuals will be required to document their attendance by checking in and out of the event. Please plan to arrive in advance and allow a few minutes at the end to sign out.
Gateway Academy will offer 4 credit hours of FREE LPC and social work CEUs. Certificates will be provided on the day of the event.
