The ultimate in relaxation! Join Registered Yoga Teacher Bob Newman for this 90 minute workshop featuring gentle, longer held stretches of  Yin Yoga to warm up and move the body into a state of ease, followed by the deeply soothing guided visualization and relaxation of Yoga Nidra.

Yin Yoga is  included as a gentle warm up for this practice. Yin is a slow-paced style of yoga with poses ("asana"), that are held for longer periods of time—five minutes or more per pose is typical. Poses apply gentle, sustained stretch to the muscles with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. Yin is also a meditative approach to yoga which aims to cultivate awareness of inner silence, and bring to light a universal, interconnecting quality.

Yoga Nidra is an ancient systematic form of guided visualization and relaxation. It is also known as “yogic sleep”. Practitioners say that it often brings immediate physical benefits, such as reduced stress and better sleep. As a meditation practice, it can engender a profound sense of joy and well-being. In yoga nidra, we restore our body, senses, and mind to their natural function and awaken an awareness that allows us to feel no separation, that only sees wholeness, tranquility, and well-being.

Absolutely no prior yoga experience necessary!

Teacher Bob Newman (RYT 200)

Bob started practicing yoga 18 years ago.  One of Bob’s quotes is “you learn something new every day”.  Thru the years he became more interested in yoga.  Eight years ago he graduated from his first 200 Hour Teacher Certification at Joyful Yoga in Bonita Springs. Since then Bob still wanted to learn more about yoga.  Bob has the following additional certifications; Kids Yoga, Teaching Yoga to Special Needs Children and adults, Meditation, Therapeutic Yoga, Thai Yoga Massage and Restorative Yoga.  In 2012, Bob had some serious medical issues and decided to use yoga as the means to get healthy.  He did this over a 13 month period culminating with his second 200 hour certification when he graduated from Bala Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training in Naples.  Bob is passionate about showing people they can come back from illness just as he did. Bob likes to take his students thru a meaningful and positive practice.  The practice could be restorative or power or anything in between.  He teaches to the student’s ability.  Bob always offers modifications to a pose so the students are comfortable and won’t hurt themselves.  His knowledge of anatomy and alignment allows him to assist the student in his/her pose. One of Bob’s favorite classes to teach is Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra translates to “Yogic Sleep”.  This is a guided meditation while the student is on their back in Savasana. Bob likes to call this class “Yummy”.
