Schedule

Friday 12/2 Pre-Conference Session 12:30-4:30

4 hrs-Bruce Barker: Pool and Spa Inspections... Do you provide pool and spa inspections? Would you like too? Bruce Barker offers numerous specialty classes on topics beyond the tradtional home inspection process. Code classes, exam prep classes and pool and spa inspection classes are among them. They are always well attended. This year Bruce has agreed to present his pool and spa training session on afternoon before the main event. The pool and spa class will be held 12:30 to 4:30 on Friday 12/2/2016. We are offering the class for an additional fee and the space is limited. So sign up early to get your seat.

Saturday 12/3 Main Event Sessions: 8:00-5:00

2 hrs- Bruce Barker: It’s a Gas (appliances, vents, combustion air, more)... Among the topics home inspectors can find most confusing, gas appliance venting including combustion air requirements has to be in the top two or three. Failing to observe improper venting or calculating combustion air requirements can have deadly results. Mr. Barker is well versed in this topic and will cover this topic thoroughly during his two-hour presentation. More details soon!

2 hrs- Bruce Barker: Inspection Quiz (various inspection topics in question and answer format)... When you speak regularly to large groups of home inspectors, you  notice certain questions get repeated. Bruce will cover many of these questions and he'll then provide the answers with explanations. The questions will fall under all areas of home inspection. More details on this session soon!

2 hrs- Jeffrey White: Electrical Issues Reviewed by an Electrical Inspector... During a recent monthly meeting chapter members enjoyed Norfolk Code Official Jeffrey White's discussion of electrical systems and the electrical code. Mr. White has agreed to speak at our Tech-Talk event. A more thorough description of the topics will be posted soon.

1hr-Kenny Hart: Let's Concentrate on Condensate... This session will focus on air conditioning and heat pump condensate issues. Each year Kenny receives dozens of inquiries from home inspectors and the public about condensate drain configurations, condensate problems and condensate control devices. During this short but informative session, Kenny will illustrate codensate system installation best practices, review the code on condensate disposal and demostrate how systems and devices operate and fail. Along with his lecture, an animated slideshow, a library of images and actual equipmment will be used during the presentation.

12/3 Frank Lesh and Randy Sipe will speak to attendees about ASHI, it's recent growth and the future of this well respected organization. If you know a former NAHI inspector (now ASHI Inspector) have them attend our event. Let our members help former NAHI inspectors get involved with ASHI and an ASHI Chapter.

12/3 Reggie Marston: Virginia Certified Home Inspector Update... Reggie will update attendees on the changes with the Virginia Certified Home Inspector Regulations. When do VA home inspectors have to be licensed? When is a special designation required to inspect new construction? We'll ask Reggie.
