About Cradles to Crayons: Cradles to Crayons was founded in 2002, with the mission of providing children ages 0 to 12 some of the most important basics of life—free of charge. These basics include clothing, school supplies, toys, and much more. In other words, they provide all the physical goods that children need to be safe, protected from the elements, and ready to learn. And by supplying them with high-quality used or new goods, they make children feel valued.

Volunteer Event: Eversource volunteers will work in the Cradles to Crayons Giving Factory warehouse, where we will roll up our sleeves to help organize and package the essentials children need to thrive- at home, at school and at play.

Dress:  Please plan on wearing your Eversource t-shirt and clothes that you are comfortable moving around in that will possibly get dirty. Volunteer t-shirts will be provided to employees on site. The warehouse can be warmer or cooler based on the weather outside, so we recommend bringing layers that you can remove during your shift.

Parking:  The best option is to take Public Transportation or park on area streets (North Beacon Street and Etna Street are two suggestions).

**Please do NOT park in front of any Cradles to Crayons or CORT Furniture loading dock doors, in the Brighton Landing Garage, or in CORT Furniture’s parking spaces.

**Please note there still might be construction going on around the Giving Factory - please allow yourself extra time to park and get to your volunteer shift on time

Miscellaneous: When you arrive, please wait in the lobby for your on-site contact, Monique, to get registered for the day.

Volunteer Guidelines and Lottery Selection

Participation in volunteer opportunities is contingent upon securing supervisor approval. Because the first obligation of each Eversoure employee is to our jobs, supervisors can refuse permission.

Volunteers will be chosen using a random lottery selection. Priority will be given to employees who have not yet volunteered in the calendar year.

To be included in the lottery, employees will need to have their supervisor’s approval, be able to stay for the duration of the volunteer event, and be able to provide their own transportation.

Volunteers are required to wear their Eversource t-shirt which will be provided.

Photographs are generally taken at all volunteer events. If an employee would like to request that his/her picture not be taken, he/she should contact the volunteer coordinator.

If an event is scheduled for a half-day, the employee is responsible for scheduling their work hours with their supervisor.

If a volunteer is unable to attend an event at the last minute, the volunteer is responsible for contacting the volunteer coordinators and his/her supervisor.

The company will not reimburse volunteers for MBTA train fares, parking fees, vehicle mileage, or parking tickets incurred during a volunteer event.
