Bookkeeping Bootcamp (SoMa)

This intensive workshop will help business owners
understand bookkeeping and financial management concepts.

This is an 8 hour workshop, split into two sessions

During the morning session, the presenters will discuss the components of business, the
importance and purpose of bookkeeping, and the purpose of different financial reports. Accounting, budgeting, and bookkeeping terminology will also be discussed.

Some of the main points that will be discussed throughout the presentation are:

  • cash vs. accrual accounting
  • proper accounting
  • data flow processes
  • lines of credit vs. business loans

During the afternoon session, attendees will learn the use of developing a budget, developing a statement of cash flows, and developing a cash flow forecast in order to track and project future monthly cash needs.

The presenters will also discuss:

  • how to avoid excessive tax penalties
  • how to reduce small businesses’ taxes
  • many of the taxes that affect business profits
These may include state and federal income and payroll taxes, sales and use

taxes, and property and city taxes. Attendees will also learn about cash flow analysis.

*Note: we encourage students to take the QuickBooks Bootcamp workshop one week after this Bookkeeping Workshop, as the principles taught in this class build a good foundation for the QuickBooks class.
