French play to be presented at the Montante Cultural Center
Performed in french by la Compagnie Caravague, based in Paris.
The play, "Huis Clos" is a French play by Jean Paul Sartre. The play begins with three characters who find themselves waiting in a mysterious room.
It is a depiction of the afterlife in which three deceased characters are punished by being locked into a room together for eternity. Sartre wrote successfully in a number of literary modes and made major contributions to literary criticism and literary biography. His plays are richly symbolic and serve as a means of conveying his philosopyy. The best-known, Huis-clos (No exit), contains the famous line "L'enfer, c'est les autres", usually translated as "Hell is other people".
