The Curious Case of IT Unemployment: Career Lifecycle Impact from Practitioner to Executive

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the employment of Computer Support Specialists has a projected growth rate of 12% between 2014 and 2024, far faster than the average expected growth rate across all occupations.  Sounds like a good thing, right?  Depends on who you ask, and more so what you know.

IT Unemployment continues to present a unique economic case study with profound implications for practitioners, managers, and vendors alike.  Consider the notion that as technology evolves, it inherently creates higher unemployment.  How then do IT Professionals remain at historically lower unemployment rates than other working demographics?  Better yet, how is it that their productivity continues to grow exponentially faster than their income?  For the Help Desk Professional, knowledge is your career path; for the Help Desk Manager, knowledge is the team; for the Help Desk Vendor, knowledge is quota.

This October, join Jamison Kuhle, VP of Programs for DFW-HDI, for an in depth discussion of the current State of IT Unemployment and how it impacts you.
