NCBPA Webinar: Managing Condensation, Water Intrusion & Energy Efficiency in the Real World

This webinar includes a general primer on Rough Opening Preparation and Air Barriers. It discusses some of the problems that have occurred in the industry and the reason for the System Engineering approach to new product development. Presented by Dave Kimball of Prosoco and Scott Kind of Spirit Sales Group.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Explain why job-site conditions should drive a systems engineering approach to construction product development.
  2. Compare the similarities and differences between silicone, urethane, and STPE sealants.
  3. Describe how and why conventional multi-step window installations don’t perform in real weather conditions.
  4. Explain new window weatherproofing techniques using liquid flashing membranes.
  5. Instruct others on construction defect remediation using STPE technology.

About PROSOCO:

PROSOCO was formed in 1939 with an original focus on Cleaning and Protecting Building Exteriors.  About 10 years ago PROSOCO expanded into Polished Concrete and Rough Opening Preparation / Air Barriers.  The company is headquartered in Lawrence, Kansas.

About the Presenters:

After 34 years at a major Silicone Sealant company, Dave Kimball has retired and started anew with PROSOCO, Inc., as a Technical Specialist in the Building Envelop Group, covering the North Atlantic Region from his office in Brooklyn, NY.  While Dave spent years, living in many different parts of the country, primarily in a Technical Service role, working on Weatherseal, Structural Glazing, and exterior coatings applications, the unique challenge that rough opening preparation and Air and Vapor Barriers brings is inspiring.
