Featuring Paula Statman
How to Wow the Crowd with a 20-Minute Talk

Today’s meeting planners want “TED-style” talks. Do you know how to translate your well-crafted keynote into a punchy short version? What stays? What goes? And what makes it memorable?

Paula Statman, national speaker and coach to TED speakers, will answer these questions and more in her much anticipated return to NSA/NC. Paula will present proven strategies for writing and delivering short talks that win over audiences and make meeting planners happy. She will also coach a member of our audience live, so you can watch how content is transformed for shorter talks.

If you haven’t written a short version of your keynote, here is your chance to get all the tools you'll need. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear Paula!

 Three Key Audience Takeaways:

  • 3 tips for writing your current talk in the TED-style short format.
  • 3 tips for delivering a powerful, persuasive short presentation.
  • How to convert an opening or a story for a short talk--live coaching demonstration with NSA/NC member attendee.

Apply for a coaching slot:  If you are an NSA/NC member, you’re eligible to apply for the live coaching demo with Paula. Send your TED-worthy opening or a story from your keynote (3-5 minutes maximum) -- in the form of a written script or short video -- to info@nsanc.org by October 21. The session is open to all, but only Professional Members of the chapter are eligible to apply for coaching slots.

Paula Statman, MSSW, is a speaking coach who prepares speakers and organizations for high stakes presentations. One of Paula’s passions is helping speakers deliver talks that meet the TED gold standard. She speaks and trains on topics such as “How to TED-ify Your Talk” and coaches TED speakers around the world. Her company, Standout Presentations, serves leaders in Fortune 100 and 500 companies as well as authors and professional speakers. Paula’s extensive national broadcast media experience includes repeat appearances on Oprah and The Today Show. Paula credits much of her success as a professional speaker to her formative years in NSA/NC.

Panel:  What Speakers Need to Know About TEDx

A TEDx talk that goes viral can skyrocket your visibility.  TEDx is a prestigious and selective platform--how do you break in? Our panel of experts will discuss how TEDx organizers select and work with speakers, how speakers can best approach and work with TEDx producers, and what it's like to be a TEDx speaker.

Panelists include: Janet Crawford, TEDx speaker, NSA member and CEO of Cascadance, Inc. ... Betsy Burroughs, TEDx speaker and founder of the FocusCatalyst Brainstorming Salon ... Kennan Salinero, organizing team and past director of speakers for TEDx Livermore.

What is TEDx?  TEDx events are local, independently produced events licensed by the global TED organization, with the shared mission "ideas worth spreading."
