“God's love is limitless and the church's Holy Week services offer Christians a deeper understanding of his infinite mercy. Let us allow ourselves to be enveloped by this mercy that comes to meet us. And in these days, while our gaze is fixed on the Lord's passion and death, let us welcome into our hearts the greatness of his love and, like Our Lady on (Holy) Saturday, in silence await the resurrection.”

- Pope Francis to his weekly general audience in St. Peter's Square, March 23, 2016

These great ceremonies are most truly understood as a single liturgy spread out over the entire week.  In the liturgy of Holy Week, we enter into the Paschal Mystery of Christ so as to draw from it in a special way the power of Christ's victory over sin and death. Each of the major ceremonies immerses us in an aspect of his saving sacrifice and molds us according to the pattern of the Son of God. Together, these liturgies comprise the Paschal Mystery - each one of them is essential to the salvation Christ won for us.

The music of Holy Week is some of the most beautiful and theologically profound of the liturgical year. Join us for a seminar that will include music for the processional chants of Palm Sunday, the antiphons for the Mandatum on Holy Thursday, music for the Veneration of the Holy Cross on Good Friday and the Exsultet of the Easter Vigil. This seminar is ideal for parish musicians, cantors, music and liturgy directors, clergy (especially deacons), RCIA and religious education instructors, or anyone who wishes to have a greater understanding of the Church’s sacred music.
