Naked Raku Pots by Scott Tubby
Scott Tubby is masterful with naked raku. Learn his techniques in this hands on workshop with demonstrations and firing.
Naked Raku is a contemporary variation of the Raku firing technique but instead of using a glaze we will apply slip to the bisqued pots, fire them in a raku kiln, remove when hot, smoke in sawdust or newspaper in a closed container and then quench with water which pops off the slip to reveal pattern.
When
Friday November 18, 6-8pm - Glazing
Sunday November 20, 10am-4pm - Firing
Who
Class limit is 8 students. Some clay experience helpful.
Cost $125
*Pieces should be bisqued to c/012 for the workshop. Surface can be plain clay, burnished or terra sidged. ANY clay works. Scott uses porcelain but stoneware works and terracotta provides a beautiful background color.
*(Lexicon will be happy to bisque your pieces for an additional $10. Pieces must be dropped off to Lexicon Studio by Saturday November 12 at 1pm. Please email Seyrel@lexicongallery.com to let me know if you would like us to bisque your pieces)
