with questions.

In the Rule, St. Benedict famously likes images of speed to describe the contemplative seeking of God. How do we translate this wisdom today in a culture of haste and distraction, which is losing the grace of contemplation?

For the first time ever, please join WCCM Oblates from across North America, as well as WCCM meditators considering the Oblate path, for this important weekend of deepening our understanding of the Rule, and its meaning for our vocations as "monastics in the world."

As indicated above, this retreat is open to all North American WCCM Oblates, including Postulants and Novices; any WCCM meditators who are considering the call to Oblation; and those interested in how meditation creates the different forms of community that supports our regular practice.

Laurence Freeman, OSB is a Benedictine monk of the Monastery of Christ our Saviour, Turvey, England, a monastery of the Congregation of Monte Oliveto; and Director of the World Community for Christian Meditation (WCCM). He is an acclaimed author, lecturer, retreat leader, and spiritual guide for the desert contemplative tradition. Fr. Laurence's many books include First Sight and Jesus the Teacher Within.
