"20 Questions from 2016 and beyond: #VAturf saw it, we'll discuss it!"
This interactive educational seminar will cover a variety of topics related to maintaining healthy turfgrass on golf courses. The unique format of the session will incorporate audience feedback into a series of short rapid-fire presentations through anonymous text responses. Unlike in most traditional seminar settings, participants in the audience are strongly encouraged to pull out their smart phones and text away. Topics will cover both warm-season and cool-season management; include 2016 bentgrass successes and failures, strategies to reduce cool-season summer stress and disease outbreaks, the latest in spring dead spot management, and emerging trends in turf management. The seminar will be team-taught by Dr. David McCall, turfgrass pathologist at VirginiaTech, and Jordan Booth, CGCS at Willow Oaks Country Club and GCSAA VP Bill Maynard, CGCS, bringing a balance between university research testing and real-world applications. This session will shed light on how several recent research findings can be incorporated into our everyday management strategies on golf courses.
