For the Love of St. Petersburg: A Community Workshop

People move to St. Petersburg from all over the country and bring with them a wealth of experiences on community engagement and improvement.  How can that wisdom be shared in a way that benefits their new community here in Florida?

OLLI at Eckerd College and AARP of Florida invite you to join author and St. Petersburg resident Peter Kageyama for an interactive workshop that allows citizens to develop their own approaches to becoming a more lovable community.  This half day workshop will explore how people connect within their own community, how to improve and maximize that connection and lead more people towards being "in love" with their place.  Join representatives from the City of St. Petersburg, local non-profits, arts and cultural institutions, and your fellow neighbors, to share your ideas, experience, and energy for  the betterment of the city we all love.

Peter Kageyama is the author of For the Love of Cities: The Love Affair Between People and Their Places and the follow up, Love Where You Live: Creating Emotionally Engaging laces.  Planetizen recognized For the Love of Cities as a Top 10 Book in 2012 in urban planning, design and development.  He is the former President of Creative Tampa Bay, a grassroots community change organization and the co-founder of the Creative Cities Summit, an interdisciplinary conference that brings citizens and practitioners together around the big idea of ‘the city.’

Peter is a Senior Fellow with the Alliance for Innovation, a national network of city leaders that is dedicated to improving the practice of local government.   He is an internationally sought-after community development consultant and grassroots engagement strategist who speaks all over the world about issues of local community development, talent attraction and retention and creative industries development.
