British Prime Minister Theresa May has been very clear: "Brexit means Brexit."  And yet the question remains: What does Brexit mean?  The June 23 vote in which the UK electorate said their should be a separation was about more than just trade, but trade is a big part of the equation, and it is already playing a major role in the process of redefining the United Kingdom's relationships with the  European Union, with the 27 other members of the EU, and with the WTO and its members.

The United Kingdom is is a member of the World Trade Organization, both in its own right and as a Member State of the European Union.  So the UK should not have to apply anew for membership in the global trade body, it will have to redefine or at the least reaffirm the key ways in which it relates to the other WTO members.  Identifying those relevant WTO relationships and the processes for clarifying and reneweing them will be topic number one at this program on November 16.  We shall do that with help from ...
