The Transportation Association of Maryland cordially invites you to its 2017 Legislative Reception at the Calvert House in Annapolis, Maryland on January 17, 2017. This once a year event rings in the General Assembly session by bringing together transit providers and vendors in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere. This, our 21st annual reception, is an opportunity for TAM members and non-members alike to get to know their legislators and let them know what issues affect their organizations.
Our transit systems have never been stronger. Ridership around the state has been rising and demand is expected to grow. The future continues to look bright.
Yet, in order to meet these increasing demands, Maryland systems must continue to invest in the infrastructure needed to maintain our facilities and expand to meet future needs. This will take additional investment by our local, state, and federal governments. This is why the Legislative Reception is so important.
TAM members understand the vital role that public transportation plays in our community – contributing to economic development; serving the minority, disabled, and elderly communities; saving energy and reducing pollution; and helping to alleviate traffic. The Legislative Reception is a chance to talk directly to your elected officials about your individual and collective needs, as well as to promote greater awareness and support for public transportation in our communities.
