Together We Are - Bishop Julius C. Trimble's Lenten Study 

 

The Season of Lent (March 1-April 15) is a time to recognize life as a precious gift from God, and re-turn the focus of our lives toward becoming more like Jesus Christ. During the Season of Lent, the Academy and the Church are able to journey together in this endeavor of becoming more like Christ, by awakening the leadership to engage in conversations about differences, while developing solutions to community concerns. 

A partnership between the United Methodist Churches of Indiana (INUMC) and Christian Theological Seminary (CTS) is formed to redeem the art of conversation among laity and clergy leaders, in addressing difficult issues around race to create a social movement that matters.

Purpose:  The Academy and the Church are positioned to convene the difficult conversations on race, by offering a safe and sacred space where such conversations can occur. This partnership will serve as a model for leading change, because INUMC and CTS have a shared missional understanding of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. This collaboration anticipates encountering changed hearts and renewed hopes for change through face-to-face connection, sharing personal stories and experiences, honestly expressing perspectives, and clarifying viewpoints.

This time of learning and conversation is open to all persons in the Christian community.

When:  Each  Wednesday in March 2017 (March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29)  Noon - 2:00 pm

Cost: No cost to attend;  Each session includes lunch so pre-registration is required
