• Learn steps on how to respond to an adolescent experiencing a mental health challenge
Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) uses role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to assess a mental health crisis; select interventions and provide initial help with a 5-step process.
This training is designed for any school community members that work directly with adolescents including office staff, teachers, counselors, social workers, school psychologists, campus monitors, family advocates, parent volunteers, coaches & community members.
Training participants MUST attend all 8-hours of training to receive certification as a Youth Mental Health First Aid provider.
SCUSD Staff who complete the 8-hour training during non-contracted time will receive a $50 stipend.
This Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) training is offered at no cost to participants through the SCUSD “Now is the Time” Project AWARE community grant funded by SAMHSA.
