Greenbrier Valley Convening: Connecting Greenbrier Valley and Regional Food "Corridor" Opportunities 

Join us to learn about the exciting array of local food production, processing, aggregation, and distribution work going on in the Greenbrier Valley and extended region. We'll also explore how to connect with new market and regional distribution opportunities being built through the local food "Corridor" project.

This convening is an excellent opportunity to network and share about projects, tour the Monroe Farm Market facility in Greenville, and identify opportunities to connect and collaborate.

Tentative Agenda:

December 7: Informal Networking Dinner

6pm: Participants are invited to convene for an informal dinner on December 7 at a local restaurant (exact location TBD).

December 8: Discussion of Regional Work and Tour of Monroe Farm Market Facility

9:00 am: Convene at the WV State Fair Grounds in Fairlea, WV

9:00 am - 11:30am: Sharing and Discussion of Highlighed Projects and Collaborations, including Greenbrier Valley Local Foods Initiative, Sprouting Farms, Monroe Farm Market, Alderson Community Food Hub, the Local Food Corridor Project, and others.

11:30am-12:30pm: Lunch catered by Greenbrier Valley Bakery

12:30pm: Carpool or drive to the Monroe Farm Market Site in Greenville, WV

1:15pm -2:15pm: Tour of Monroe Farm Market facility in Greenville

2:15pm - 3:00pm: Discussion of Connections and Opportunties for Collaboration

3:00pm: Adjourn

Registration Information

Pre-registration is required (deadline Dec.5).

The registration fee of $15 includes lunch.

Reimbursement for mileage costs and lodging is available upon request for a limited number of attendees. If you are interested in this option, indicate this on the registration form so that we can provide you more information, or contact maryoldham@vc2.org with questions. Carpooling and shared lodging is encouraged.

A block of rooms has been reserved under the "Corridor Project" at the Holiday Inn Express in Lewisburg.

Greenbrier Valley Local Foods Initiative: GVLFI supports local projects and organizations to increase economic return to farmers in the Greenbrier Valley region. GVLFI website

Monroe Farm Market: a farmer cooperative that aggregates and distributes for over 30 member farms via an online ordering platform and regional route. MFM website

Alderson Community Food Hub: among other projects, ACFH aggregates and distributes locally grown food to local buyers including their Green Grocer retail store in Alderson. ACH website

Sprouting Farms: a newly-launched farm incubator project based in Summers County. SF website
