Who Should Come
We welcome K-12 teachers, educational leaders, out-of-school-time program faculty, high school students who have had significant exposure to the concepts of mindsets and metacognition. We encourage you to bring a team of faculty from your school so that you will have company as you implement the strategies you will learn.
Personalizing learning and implementing proficiency-based systems require that students employ more independent learning strategies than ever before. How do we get them ready for this challenge?
In this interactive one-day seminar, Kathleen Kryza, international consultant and educator, will share the latest cognitive research on mindsets and metacognition and what it takes to “Think Smart” in and beyond the classroom. She will offer many practical ideas and strategies for developing students’ executive function by working with their mindsets and self-regulation skill sets to prepare them for school and for life.
Workshop Objectives:
Participants will leave with a rich toolkit of ideas for building the capacity of Vermont youth to be competent independent learners, and for fully optimizing personalized learning and proficiency-based strategies in the process.
Methodology: Kathleen presents in a “Live it to Learn It” model. This workshop will include many ready-to-use practice strategies so that participants can experience what it feels like to learn in an inspiring classroom. The day will be a blend of whole-class presentation, engaging and interactive group participation, and individual time for reflection.
