OSCF 2017 STATE QUALIFIER

Saturday, January 28th, 2017

Check In for ELITE Sections (NWSRS or USCF rating over 1300): 7:30 - 7:50am

Start Time: 8:00 am   End Time: ~4:45 pm

ELITE SECTION Round Times: 8a, 10:15a, 12:30p, 2:45p

G60 + 5 sec delay. Notation required.

Check In for Advanced Section (NWSRS 1000-1299): 7:30-7:50am

Start Time: 8:00am   End Time: ~4:45pm

Advanced section Round Times: 8a, 9:45a, 11:45a, 1:30p, 3:15p

G40 + 5 sec delay. Notation required.

Check In for Intermedicate Section (NWSRS 600-999): 8:00 - 8:30am

Start Time: 9:00am   End Time: 4:15pm

Intermediate section Round Times: 9a, 10:20a, 12:15p, 1:30p, 3p

G/35 + 5 sec delay.

"ROOKS" (Intermediate A) (800-999 NWSRS rated): Notation required.

"KNIGHTS" (Intermediate B) (600-799 NWSRS or 7-12 grade unrated): Notation recommended.

Check In NOVICE Section (U600 NWSRS or K-6 unrated): 9:00 - 9:30am

Start Time: 9:30am    End Time: ~4:00pm

NOVICE section Round Times: 10a, 11a, 1p, 2p, 3p  

Cost:  $25.00 per player through January 25th, 2017

Entry deadline is 11:59 pm PSTWednesday, 1/25/2017 No late registration will be accepted. No exceptions.

Please write Lincoln Chess club, player full name, and section on the memo portion of the check.

All entries after 1/21/17 must pay on site. All entries before and on 1/21/2017 are recommended to pay by mailing a check. 

Parking:

There are some free parking spots around the track field and before the side gate on SW 16th Avenue. You may enter on SW 16th Ave from SW Jefferson Street. There is also meter parking on the street next to school.

Check-in Location:

Please enter Lincoln High School cafeteria for check-in in the morning. The cafeteria is facing the track field on the lower level.

EQUIPMENT:

Please bring a chess clock if you have one.  Boards and pieces will be provided. 
 

AWARDS

  • Individual Awards: Awards for 1st, 2nd, 3rd & Plus Scorers ( 3 points or higher) for Advanced, Intermediate and Novice sections. 
  • TEAM AWARDS: Trophies for top 4 teams (top three scores per team) in each section except Elite section. Trophies for top 2 teams (top three scores per team) for Elite section. Players goes to the same school constitute a team.
  •  Cash prizes for Elite section based on 16 total registrations, if total registration entries is less than 16, prizes to be modified proportionally at the discretion of the organizer. 1st Place: $120, 2nd Place: $80, 3rd Place: $50. Prizes will be equally divided among equal scorers if the top 3 scorers have the same score.

SECTION DETAILS: 

  • U600
    For beginning (K-5) unrated players and players rated < 600.   5 round Swiss, G/25+5, NWSRS rated only.  Notation is not required.  Clocks will be used only if both players agree or if the tournament director assigns a clock.

  

  • U1000  
    For intermediate (6-12) unrated players and players rated 600 – 999.  
    This division will be split into "ROOKS" (Intermediate A) (800-999 NWSRS) and "KNIGHTS" (Intermediate B) (600-799 NWSRS) sections.  5 round Swiss, G/35+5, NWSRS rated only. Notation is required for "ROOKS" section. Notation is recommended for "KNIGHTS".  Clocks may be assigned and must be used if a director or player brings one to the table and the players both agree to use one. 
     

 

  • U1300  
    For advanced players rated 1000 - 1299.   5 round swiss, G/40+5, NWSRS rated only.  Notation required; clocks must be used, and players should bring them.

 

  • Elite / U1300+ 
    For the most advanced players, and all players rated 1300+ in either USCF or NWSRS rating system.  Four (4) round swiss, G/60 +5.  Notation and clocks required.  For initial placement in the section, we will use the higher of NWSRS or USCF rating.  Dual rated (NWSRS and USCF); USCF membership required (new USCF memberships ($16-$24/yr., depending on age) and renewals are available online at www.uschess.org.).
