Twitter and Blogging - Advanced Tips for Libraries: 2-Part Webinar (02/13 and 02/15/17)

IMPORTANT: This is a 2-part webinar that meets on Monday, February 13 AND Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 10 - 11:30 am each day. You will register once to attend both sessions.

This course is for existing users of Twitter or blogs, who already know what they are, and why to use them in the information environment. The emphasis is on using these tools at an organizational level, but the advice could equally be applied to personal use.

We will focus on how to use Twitter and blogging more effectively (and strategically), how to sustain their use over time, how to build your audience and a larger network, how to analyze your own activity, tips and strategies for improving engagement, and how to measure the impact of your social media use.

Around 60% of our time will be spent on Twitter and 40% on blogs, but attendees will be encouraged to submit specific issues, queries or points of interest during the workshop so we can be flexible as to what we cover.

Who should attend?

Anyone who uses Twitter and / or blogs on behalf of their library institutions; those who want to look beyond the basics focusing on how to use them more strategically and effectively.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this hands-on session attendees will:

  • Create a system to generate ideas of what to Tweet and blog about
  • Have an improved understanding of, and practical tips for, including multimedia in their social media
  • Use analytics tools with information you can ACT on – attendees will know what to look for when measuring impact, and what to change
  • Understand the roles of Twitter, blogs and Tumblr in the library landscape
  • Know how to title and promote a blog post effectively
