Next-Gen Cultural Leadership Kick-Off

The Next-Gen Cultural Leadership Network is designed to bring together leaders of the future —together with current leaders from vanguard companies that are at the cutting edge of new organizational forms and practices — to dialogue, learn from each other, and attempt to address the management issues of tomorrow.

The dominant management form—the “command and control” bureaucratic hierarchy—is under assault.  Invented in the 19th century, and developed and codified in the 20th century, the bureaucratic hierarchy was meant to reproduce processes and procedures for greatest efficiency in environments of relative stability and predictability.  And this efficiency was meant to be achieved by a largely uneducated workforce doing manual labor.

But the world has changed.  The interconnectedness enabled by the internet, rapid advances in technology, as well as globalization in trade, means that organizations are experiencing complexity and uncertainty at unprecedented levels.  And the workforce of today is beyond “knowledge work,” but performing “creative work” that produces value through the collaborative efforts from diverse team members across internal and external organizational boundaries.

Our Next-Gen Cultural Leadership Network kick-off event will be held Thursday evening, January 26, at Westminster College and all day Friday, January 27, at the Alta Club in Salt Lake City, Utah.
