Faculty
David B. Bush, M.S., J.D. has been licensed to practice law since 1992 and is an AV® rated attorney. He earned an M.S. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Arizona and a J.D. in law from the University of Wisconsin. He is admitted to practice in all courts in Colorado, as well as the United States Court of Federal Claims and the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. In 2017, David joined forces with the Hoban Law Group, where he continues to focus on cannabis business law, corporate law, commercial contracts and commercial dispute resolution. David serves on the Business Advisory Council of the National Hemp Association and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Hemp Industries Association. He also is President of the Industrial Hemp Research Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to supporting hemp-related public education and academic research at institutions of higher education in Colorado.
James Weatherly Executive Director of the Seed Innovation and Protection Alliance, James brings to SIPA extensive experience protecting and enforcing intellectual property rights both in the United States and internationally. As a Registered US Patent Attorney with Cochran Freund & Young in Fort Collins, Colorado, James has obtained patents, Plant Breeders Rights, Plant Variety Protection, trademarks, service marks, copyrights,
licenses and set up trade secrets policies.
Frank Robson Esq. is a senior associate at Vicente Sederberg, LLC. Frank currently
focuses his practice on corporate, private equity, commercial and intellectual property
matters. Prior to joining Vicente Sederberg, Frank worked as Assistant Counsel to the
University of Colorado Boulder and as research counsel at the University of Colorado
Boulder's Technology Transfer Office. Frank worked on a wide variety of legal matters
for the university, but focused on research compliance (controlled substances, controlled technologies, expert controls) and intellectual property.
Wendy Mosher is the CEO and a co-founder of New West Genetics. She holds an MA from California State University in Education, which she uses to wrangle her partners into a cohesive, prioritized force. Prior to teaching for 10 years, Wendy worked in the nonprofit sector in HR and in contract procurement for an aerospace business in Seattle. Wendy helps create and articulate New West's strategy and vision, raises capital, and manages business development and customer relationships.
Barbara Campbell is a Patent Attorney with Cochran Freund & Young LLC. Barbara counsels and works with clients in domestic and international intellectual property protection, including prosecution of patents, patentability opinions, litigation counseling, patent interference, due diligence of intellectual property assets, world-wide plant breeders rights, plant variety protection rights, trade secrets, complex licensing matters, agreement negotiations, trademark prosecution, trademark enforcement, and trademark litigation. Barbara has filed and prosecuted numerous patent, plant breeders rights, plant variety protection and trademark applications in North America and throughout Europe, South America, Australia and Asia. Barbara's practice covers a variety of technologies including biotechnology, biomechanics, agricultural sciences, plant genetics, plant traits, plant sciences, nutraceutical, cosmeceutical, pharmaceutical, bio-energy/bio-fuels, mechanical and food technology. In regards to the agricultural and plant sciences, Barbara’s experience includes working with all types of agricultural crops, horticultural crops, as well all types of ornamental plants. Barbara also works closely with clients regarding seed labeling compliance with the Federal Seed Act.
Steve Weigler an expert in Trade Names, Trademarks and Copyrights, founder and managing partner of EmergeCounsel, LLC represents and supports new, emerging and entrepreneurial businesses. With his combination of legal, entrepreneurial, governmental and corporate experience give a unique, focused perspective on what entrepreneurs who are starting up or emerging their businesses need.
