A Perfect Storm Brewing in Agriculture

10:00 am - 11:00 am

Whether your farm and family are young and thriving, or you are gladly reaching your time of retirement, the transition of your business is something to be planning for. At the 2017 Ag Outlook, Steve Bohr will share the importance of farm estate planning and will discuss estate tax issues. Bohr began his 24 year financial services career immediately upon graduation from Coe College in Cedar Rapids in 1992.  Born and raised on his family’s farm in Wellman, Iowa, his heritage was deeply engaged in agriculture. Bohr founded Farm Financial Strategies, a program to offer strategies to ‘preserve the family farm’.

How has innovation in agriculture developed over time? What’s the story of the consolidation in the chemical, seed, and biotech space? Jim Tobin will bring light to the past and present situations and will share examples of innovation yet to come from industry leaders as well as from start-up companies. Tobin retired from Monsanto in December 2014 after over 31 years with the company and continues to help his colleagues, serving as Chairman of Monsanto’s Grower Advisory Council.
