Inside Out: Integrating Internal Family Systems Therapy & Sandtray Play Therapy

NOT TRACK A

Description:

Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) is a trauma treatment model created by Richard Schwartz. Over the past twenty years it has developed into a comprehensive model that is currently being used with adults, children, couples and families. Participants will learn the basics of Internal Family Systems theory and how it can be applied in sandtray work. A mixture of didactic and experiential methods will help participants learn the basics of recognizing and working with ego states in the sandtray process.

Objectives:

  1. Identify three types of parts involved in Internal Family System theory
  2. Explore the concept of “Self” in Internal Family Systems and sandplay models
  3. Practice interventions to explore parts work in sandtray processes
