Spring 2017 Review and Implementation of the 2014 Music Standards (MUS 5710)

Online Professional Development through Music-COMP, a recognized professional development provider in collaboration with Castleton University for graduate credits.

Cost: Each course is available for 15 hours workshop credit only ($299 each) or for one graduate credit ($419 each). Take one course or more during the winter/spring 2017 session. Each course content includes: Research and best practice on the topic, online posts and discussion with classmates, dcument planning and implementation into your own music classroom.

Review and Implementation of the New 2014 Music Standards        
MUS 5710 - Begins January 30, 2017 - March 10, 2017

Instructor: Sandi MacLeod, Ed. D.
Research the historical underpinnings of the new National Core Arts Standards. Compare and contrast the 1994 music standards and other standards/initiatives promoted by each individual school with the 2014 Music Standards. Investigate areas of individual curriculum and practice where new work is needed to meet the NCAS. Develop an implementation plan to address one area of the new standards with rationale, and potential learning project for students to utilize the 2014 Music Standards within the participant’s music program.

This course requires 2.5 hours participation per week for six weeks to complete successfully.

No in-person meetings, no specific dates or times to meet, except 2 Skype sessions TBA. Assignments are due on a weekly basis. Work to your schedule throughout the six weeks of your course.
