Texas Converge on the Capitol

In partnership with Texas Hotel & Lodging Association, AAHOA presents Converge on the Capitol 2017 - an event to connect you with your state lawmakers. 

Converge on the Capitol is an opportunity to visit with and become familiar or friendlier with the lawmakers and their staff who affect how lodging and tourism operators do business in Texas. Your legislators want to hear from you, and the Converge is the perfect way to make your voice heard. We invite and encourage both THLA members and nonmembers to attend. There is absolutely no charge to be a part of Converge on the Capitol, so mark your calendar and plan to attend with as many colleagues from your area as possible!

THLA and AAHOA will provide bus transportation from around Texas to Austin. In the past, there have been buses coming from Dallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Houston.

San Antonio - South Central Texas Region

• Location 1: 8:30 AM  - Hampton Inn & Suites – Airport (8902 Jones Maltsberger Rd, San Antonio, TX 78216)
• Location 2: Approximately 9:15 AM (After Pickup 1) - Quality Inn & Suites (1533 IH-35 North, New Braunfels, TX 78130)

Dallas-Fort Worth-Irving - North Texas Region

• Approximately 6:00 AM - SLPS Community Center (1910 North Britton Rd, Irving, TX 75061)

Houston - Southeast Texas Region

• Approximately 6:45 AM - Hare Krishna Temple (1320 West 34th St, Houston, TX 77018)

Converge on the Capitol Agenda

• 10:00 AM-11:00 AM - Registration at the Austin Convention Center, Ballroom D (500 East Cesar Chavez St)
• 11:00 AM-12:30 PM - Briefing on Legislative Issues at the Convention Center
• 12:30 PM-1:30 PM - Lunch at the Convention Center and bus transportation to the Capitol (multiple vegetarian options)
• 1:30 PM-2:00 PM - Visit with your State Senator and/or their staff  at the Capitol
• 2:30 PM-3:00 PM - Visit with your State Representative and/or their staff at the Capitol
• 3:00 PM - Bus transportation from the Capitol to the Convention Center
