This exercise will have multiple attack vectors from outside the country directed at various parts of the United States infrastructure causing extended outages in major geographical regions. The purpose of this exercise is to allow utilities, first responders, government agencies, and other participating entities to practice emergency and continuity plans in a safe environment. The exercise is designed to test the extreme limits of continuity capabilities in a very real threat environment across a large geographical region.
The format for this exercise is an enhanced tabletop that can be expanded to a structural or full scale exercise by participating entities as the see the need for their organization. Individual modules can be developed for participants to specifically test their plans as requested. The scenario is built to encourage dialogue and teamwork from the various participant. A facilitator will be in charge of the format and will seek out communication from the participants.
A “hotwash” or evaluation will be held after the exercise and an after action Report will be generated from the exercise to help participants with their evaluations of their emergency and continuity plans.
This exercise is part of the continuing effort of the National Cyber Exchange and the National Cybersecurity Center to help participants prepare for emergencies and cyber intrusions that could affect their business operations.
