The meeting will be held in a high security area and, consequently, all attendees will be required to undergo a routine background screening.  You will need to provide some personal information. Please register for this event, and we will then send you the contact information needed for the background check.

Tony Mendes

Tony is a Senior Mitigation Specialist within the Risk Analysis Branch.  The branch provides engineering, economic, and scientific analysis in support of hazard mitigation programs, and ensures that technical hazard mitigation information is available to all local, State, and Federal recovery partners.  Risk Analysis is the focal point for data collection and analysis in support of hazard mitigation initiatives for all disaster services.  He will be providing an overview of how FEMA is managing the transition to the new administration.

Mobile Emergency Response Support Detachment (MERS)

There will be a tour of the facility that supports the Mobile Emergency Response Support Detachment.  MERS provides self-sustaining telecommunications, logistics, and operations support through detachments (staff, equipment, and equipment assets) that are immediately deployable.  These detachments can be transported nationally and are able to work together to suport a large disaster field office and miltiple field operating sites within the disaster area.  They are activated at the request of state or tribal emergency management officials and with the approval of the FEMA administrator.
