CNP Native Medicinal & Edible Plants

This course is an elective course and provides 4 hours toward the completion of the Certificate in Native Plants program.

The program will introduce edible and medicinal botany in the botanically rich southeastern U.S. emphasizing traditional as well as current uses of medicinal plants. The program will also explore cultivation of drought resistant native medicinal plants in the Tennessee Valley and herbal medicine making.

Instructor:  Holli Richey studied pathophysiology, biomedicine and the therapeutic use of medicinal herbs at the Maryland University of Integrative Health (formerly Tai Sophia Institute), graduating with a Masters of Science in Herbal Medicine. A growing body of research and Holli’s own observations have shown how emotional patterns have a powerful impact on health and illness, which led Holli to study at the University of Georgia as a Clinical Social Worker to develop an ecological therapy of the whole person, mind-body-spirit, which utilizes herbs, psychotherapy and stress management/mindfulness practices to help people find insight into and relief from their anxiety, depression, chronic illness and pain. She’s continued with her training in mindfulness-based cognitive therapy through intensive study with Zindel Segal, PhD and Susan Woods LCSW at Omega Institute, and Ron Siegel, PsyD from Harvard Medical School.

Registration Policy:  As with all Certificate in Native Plants classes, class size is limited.  To give everyone the best opportunity to participate, there is a non-refundable cancellation fee of $10, with the balance refunded if you cancel at least 7 calendar days before the class will be held.  If the class is cancelled by the instructor or the CNP program, registrants will get a full refund.

If you do not pay online, you will need to mail your check to Wild Ones-Tennessee Valley Chapter, 4918 Marlow Drive, Red Bank, TN 37415.  Please put the date of the program in the memo line as well as the last name of the person you are registering.  You will not be registered until your payment is received.
