WMRO - BPS Train the Trainer - Feb 16, 17, 21, 22, &23

Behavioral Principles and Strategies (BPS) is still the Administration approved curriculum for management of disruptive behaviors as referenced in the Code of Maryland Regulations.

As the DDA is actively looking to approve/replace the curriculum with a Nationally Accredited program using the RFP process, which is not expected to be completed this fiscal year (6/30/17). The program will be one that has the philosophy of Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) and Trauma Informed Care (TIC), and in an effort to continue the philosophy and meet the need for trainers, the DDA is reaching out to providers who want to certify new instructors to teach BPS at their agency.  BPS has been updated with the incorporation of PBS.

The BPS Train the Trainer (TTT) course will provide approved participants with a review of the BPS Protocol, the BPS Powerpoint, a PDF of the BPS Curriculum and demonstrations on how to teach correct physical intervention techniques.  On the last day, participants will lead practice BPS training sessions to provide participants with realistic training scenarios with PBS and Trauma Informed Care.

Upon successful completion of this TTT course and follow-up requirements (including practice training sessions and the successful completion of a 2-day critique done by Master Trainer), participants will be authorized to teach BPS at their agency.  Approved applicants must attend all 5 days, and schedule their final critiques within 3-4 months out from the training, by May/June 2017.

Please see the panel to the left regarding the presenters, dates and locations.

Lunch will be "on your own" (bring your lunch or dine out nearby)
