What do I keep?  How long do I keep it?  How can it save me on taxes and keep me out of trouble, while improving profitability?File Cabinet  This is all critical stuff to know! 

Workshop Summary: In this workshop you will be told what types of things you need to keep track of in your business, what you should save and why.

What we'll cover:

  • What records(pieces of paper in many cases) you should keep.
  • How effortless and easy saving records can be.
  • Why do you keep them?.....Who will use them?
  • How can my records help to prove tax deductions?
  • Tax deductions for business use of a vehicle.
  • Tax deductions for a home based business.
  • How records can protect you from unpleasant actions.
  • What the IRS expects you to keep, for tax purposes, and how long.

A top-level overview, followed by class involvement in excercises and examples.  Each workshop is taught by an expert on the subject.  Open to the existing or aspiring small business public....No-charge.

Jean Kruse

Jean is a SCORE counselor, District Director of SCORE in Iowa, past Chair of SCORE CR and a CPA. After working for another CPA firm for several years, Jean operated her own CPA firm for thirteen years. In 1988 she joined RSM McGladrey, LLP, a national firm, where she provided accounting and tax services to small businesses. Jean has been helping small businesses succeed for over 30 years and has won numerous awards for doing it well. She is also one of the founders of the Professional Woman's Network (PWN) in Cedar Rapids and a professional woman's advocate. She is a University of Iowa graduate with a BA in English.
