Making Your Images Ready for the Web: Webinar (04/13/17)

Are you responsible for creating and/or posting graphics or photos online? Are your photos stretched or pixelated? Are graphics optimized specifically for specific social media channels? Are website images inadvertently sucking up your patron's (expensive) mobile bandwidth? Does your library follow recommended best practices, to get the most attention for your images?

You may not even be aware of some of the issues that web images can create for your patrons. In this webinar, we're going to help you get your images ready for prime time.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Understand why image optimization is critical for a better user experience
  2. Learn the most common image formats and when to use each
  3. Learn about requirements for images by various social media networks

Virtual Trainer: Laura Solomon

Laura Solomon is the Library Services Manager for the Ohio Public Library Information Network . She has been doing web development and design for twenty years, in both public libraries and as an independent consultant. She specializes in developing with Drupal. She is a 2010 Library Journal Mover & Shaker. She’s written three books about social media and content marketing, specifically for libraries, and speaks nationally on both these and technology-related topics.  As a former children’s librarian, she enjoys bringing the “fun of technology” to audiences and in giving libraries the tools they need to better serve the virtual customer.

This is an online class. Access information will be emailed one week ahead.

Cost: NEFLIN classes are free of charge for Florida library staff. Registration is required for all classes and NEFLIN members get priority.
