13th Annual Tribal Gathering of Embodied Dancers: The Heart of Connection

We are infinitely stronger, happier, and healthier when we are connected. This moment in particular calls on us to stay connected to our own inviolable truths with others, and with the world around us. It takes time, practice, and presence in community to unearth what is possible.

The 2017 Tribal Gathering of Embodied Dancers is a time for communities and teachers to come together to find The Heart of Connection. To investigate our similarities and differences. To give and receive. To play with the back and forth of the individual and the group. To let the undercurrent of our dances be the language for working things through in an embodied way. A place where heart, mind, body, and spirit all have room and permission to be at home and play. Come join us for a dancing exploration about the individual, community, and connection.

With the intention of further nurturing unity and deeper connection between dance tribes, our Tribal Gathering is being held for the very first time outside Olympia. The 2017 Gathering will be held at beautiful Presence Studio in Bellingham WA. As such it is a co-production and joyful collaboration between OlyWaves (Ronny Temple) and Presence Studio (Jenny Macke).

Our 2017 Tribal Gathering features teachers of 5Rhythms, Open Floor, and Soul Motion, each offering their unique perspective on the shared theme The Heart of Connection. As always, the Gathering also includes a fabulous catered outdoor dinner party and embodied dancers, new friends and old, from around the globe.

Bernice Raabis - Soul Motion
‘I love to dance and I love people…. more than anything I love helping people find their love of dance, watching them use its power to open up to their full Divine potential”
A lifetime dancer, Bernice’s passion is to awaken the dancer in others. She believes that the body has the potential to unlock ones own inner world and that inside lives our passion and ultimately the path to Divine truth.  From performance artist to conscious dance facilitator Bernice has sat at the feet of masters in the conscious dance and movement therapy world, carrying their lineage while bringing her own distinct flavor to the work. You can be assured to both cry and laugh while working with her…  hopefully all at once. Come as you are... no dance experience necessary… everyone is a dancer.

Evangelos Diavolitsis - 5Rhythms
Evangelos is a certified 5Rhythms® facilitator and meditation teacher who trained directly with movement shaman Gabrielle Roth.  He has been continuously studying with meditation masters Achariya Doug Duncan Sensei and Catherine Pawasarat Sensei since 2002.  He studied at Theravadan monasteries in Asia and with a wide range of teachers in the Namgyal Lineage including Namgyal Rinpoche.  He has also received teachings from Sakya Trinzin, Lama Ole and the Dalai Lama.  His compassionate and investigative nature encourages students to view fear and confusion as an opportunity for growth and transformation.  He has a passion for integrating the path of awakening with movement, art and business.
As well as being a certified master money coach and visionary social entrepreneur, Evangelos regularly offers public talks on the art of integrating the spiritual path with a financially balanced material life.  He creates an atmosphere that is adventurous and safe, weaving a delicate chemistry of humour and intensity.  He has taught across Canada, Asia, Europe and in the U.S.  www.meditationmoves.ca

Jenny Macke

Jenny is the founder of Presence Studio and  is dedicated towards serving community and creating space for others to find their freedom of expression.  She has a Master’s in Leadership Education and a whole slew of movement certifications but mostly her greatest qualification is that she is a wild and wiley dancer.   In dance she loves to weave in mystery while working with grounded and resourced embodiment practices.   In the last few years her focus in teaching has shifted to the wise web of teachings in the Open Floor (www.openfloor.org) She serves on the Curriculum Circle of this ever evolving school of movement.  Prior to this her teaching practice was rooted in the 5rhythms® for over 9 years and she continues to explore and express through many conscious movement practices.    Jenny began teaching movement through Nia 14 years ago, evolved to holding sacred space for women inspired by Heather Munroe Pierce’s dance circles, she held ecstatic dance community space in Bellingham for many years before becoming a 5rhythms® certified teacher and Open Floor facilitator.   She loves to weave the wild and still web of energy found in the natural world into her teachings.  She is greatly influenced by the witnessing work of Authentic Movement, Soul Work of the Animas Institute and Bill Plotkin & the fluid embodied awareness work of Continuum.  She honors all people’s dances and the many worthy paths to investigate coming home to wholeness of the soul through the freeing & wild dance of the body.

Ronny Temple
Ronny is a certified 5Rhythms Teacher with a wide breadth of experience in movement meditation and leadership that serves him well as he holds and guides OlyWaves. He is a published author in several genres, successful business owner, strategic planner, world traveler, and master sailor. His most salient experiences though are in the realm of meditation and spirit. Curiosity and compassion eventually led him to people like Krishnamurti, whom he met in the early eighties, and to Osho Rajneesh with whom he practiced meditations such as Vipassana, Sufi Whirling, and Kundalini for nearly two decades in India as well as the U.S.
Ronny fell in love with the 5Rhythms practice around 2003 and ten years later is still in the honeymoon phase. A cross between a wise man and a wise guy (OK, a bit more the latter than the former), Ronny focuses on nurturing a light heart on and off the dance floor. His teachings have a decidedly Tantric (meaning, in this context, holistic) flavor to them.
