Aims:

The aim of this course is to discuss simple surgical soft tissue management, including indications and principles for deepening of vestibule and extraction of a tooth followed by socket preservation with the use of latest biomaterials on models and pig jaws.  A hands-on session will provide an opportunity to carry out surgery on pig jaw

Objectives:

By end of the day you should be aware of:  Indications of deepening of vestibule and increase of keratinised tissue

• To describe surgical flaps, deepening of vestibule and use of biomaterial for free gingival grafting
• Flap closure, suture techniques and surgical handling of tissues around teeth
• Non traumatic extraction of a tooth and socket preservation with the use of biomaterials, seal socket preservation
• Rationale of  guided  bone regeneration/application of biomaterials
