Art, Play, and Learning: Making Art in the Elementary School Classroom 

Join us on Saturday, February 11, for a full-day workshop on collaborating with teaching artists and facilitating process-based art-making with students. This workshop is open to artists who are interested in teaching, and teachers who are interested in art.

Topics covered in this FREE workshop will include:
  • Artistic development in youth 
  • Fostering critical thinking skills through creative activity
  • Leading process-based art lessons
  • Learning through reflection
  • What is a teaching artist? 
The workshop will take place from 10am - 4pm at the Peoria PlayHouse Children's Museum.

Free parking is available throughout Glen Oak Park. Space is limited, and registration is required. 


Saul Chernick, an artist and educator specializing in professional development for teachers and teaching artists. As a licensed public school teacher in New York State he has provided classes and workshops for institutions including the Joan Mitchell Foundation, The Museum of Modern Art, and Baruch College.
