A Journey of Jewish Identity & Discovery

This unique program offers participants the opportunity to travel to historic San Francisco, California in order to examine its particular Jewish heritage while studying with some of the foremost scholars of American Jewish history.

--Take a Jewish tour to gain an in-depth understanding of the Jewish experience in San Francisco

--Visit historic sites such as Sherith Israel, Temple Emanu-El, and the Haas-Lilienthal House

-- Explore the Contemporary Jewish Museum and the Magnes Collection of Jewish Art & Life at UC Berkeley

--Participate in interactive study sessions with scholars and fellow participants

Faculty:  

Mr. Fred Rosenbaum, historian and educator specializing in the history of             the Jewish community of the San Francisco Bay area.  He has authored several books on the subject including, Cosmopolitans: a Social and Cultural History of the Jews of the San Francisco Bay area.

Dr. Gary P. Zola, Executive Director of the AJA & Professor of the American Jewish Experience at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
