Have you always loved piano music, and wish you could play? Did you take lessons as a child and want to refresh your skills? Do you currently play and want to improve? The Center for Extended & Lifelong Learning is offering group piano lessons for adults. This 12 week course will take place in the piano studio at Salisbury University in Fulton Hall.
The class is taught by Pianist Alex Cooper, a SU senior pursuing his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music, with an emphasis on piano performance/pedagogy, conducting and composition.
Alex began studying the piano at the age of six, and has developed a variety of musical interests throughout his development as an artist. As a pianist, he has a particular affinity for jazz, and is an active performer in the Salisbury and D.C. Metro region. Most recently, Alex shared the stage with professional and internationally renowned drummer Donald Edwards. Alex also serves as the Music Director of First Baptist Church in Princess Anne, for which he conducts, oversees and arranges for the choir in addition to coordinating the music for Sunday services.
As a music educator Alex has been teaching piano privately for six years and is currently active as a PRESTO piano teacher. Upon graduation from Salisbury Alex hopes to attend graduate school in order to teach music at the collegiate level.
