CPA Ontario - Road Show
by Carol Wilding, FCPA, FCA, CEO of CPA Ontario
Carol Wilding will present an overview of the current state of the profession and CPA Ontario. She will cover topics such as:
- CPA branding and the presence of the CPA profession
- The role of CPA Ontario and its path forward
- The new Association model and its objectives
Carol Wilding was appointed by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario’s Council as the President and CEO in October 2014. In her role, Ms. Wilding leads the qualifying and regulatory body of Ontario’s more than 80,000 CPAs and approximately 20,000 CPA students. CPA Ontario serves the public interest by developing, monitoring and enforcing the highest standards of professional competence and ethical conduct.
Reviewing CRA Audit & Collection Powers - An Examination of the Federal Court's Jurisdiction

David Piccolo will be sharing practical insights regarding the use of the Federal Court in overseeing CRA’s use of the collection and information gathering tools provided to them in the Income Tax Act. The presentation will begin by differentiating the powers of the Federal Court from the Tax Court. Once the jurisdiction of the Federal Court is explained, Mr. Piccolo will highlight the various remedies within the Federal Court’s jurisdiction and how these remedies can be used practically within the Tax context.
David Piccolo is a Canadian lawyer practicing taxation in Toronto, Canada. He has authored a number of papers in the field of tax law which have been published in The Supreme Court Law Review and The LSN Tax Law: Practitioner Series.
